Replacement battery slows down computer

Macbook Pro 15" mid 2012 (2.6 GHZ...

My computer would power off with no warning at about 30% charge left. I reset SMC and PRAM, to no avail. I read where this can be caused by cells having gone bad. I thought I would swap out the battery. I found a cheap one on Amazon and decided to take a chance. It installed easily, and charged with no problem. Showed 5 cycles. I calibrated it even though there is a difference of opinion as to whether or not this is necessary. I perceived that my macbook was running slower than before. I ran geekbench 4 and got results 1621 (single core) and 5712 (multi core), where average for my model is 3260 and 10244. I reset SMC and PRAM, no difference. I then read that non-oem batteries can cause this. I swapped my old battery back in. Geekbench 4 results, 3677 (single) and 12320 (multi). The geekbench test ran in about half the time on my old battery. I guess you get what you pay for. I plan to return the battery, but am now not sure what to replace it with. Coconut battery shows the old battery as good. It doesn't last long, but I could live with it except, the computer powers off at the most inopportune times. Any ideas? CoconutBattery with old:

You know what the problem is. El Cheapo replacement battery. (It probably only weighs half of what it should).

The fix is to use a quality battery replacement. I don't understand why need us to tell you this, you already know!

Your Machine uses an

A1382 battery. iFixit is out of stock.

Try these folks. Products are good and shipping is very good.

I was hoping for some help in finding a replacement battery. I figured for the price (about $25), I would take a chance. When it charged and discharged perfectly, I thought I made a pretty good deal. Never expected it could affect performance. The price on Ifixit is about $70. No problem if it works. If mine is an "El Cheapo" what is not that will work?

I would highly recommend buying a used Grade B or C Apple battery from Powerbook Medic. They are cheaper than 3rd party batteries, last longer and most importantly are way more reliable.

Sams Freeman could you please explain a little more. Don't understand "used Grade B or C Apple battery." Might I get exactly what I have now in my computer (used battery)?

da

Never mind. I went to the site. Thank you.

Now when you take a look at the reputation of me vs Sam, since we are talking about quality you may change your decision. 458,972 mine vs Sam's 1,103

Try calibrating the old one. also return it and get an OEM battery.

Hold the Option key and click the Apple menu. Choose System Information.

Under the Hardware section of the System Information window, select Power. The current cycle count is listed under the Battery Information section.

see if that says its still good. If it does try a calibration

Thank you, but that is all in my post.

No it isnt, none of it is in your post. No where is it mentioned that you tried to calibrate the old one, only the new one. also you mentioned no where the system information specs, just coconut battery specs.

da

I am sorry, you are correct. I had calibrated both new and old. The system information says the same as CoconutBattery: Health information: Cycle Count - 440, Condition - normal.

Thank you.

Im not sure then. @mayer might help
