I push the button on my kenmore 80 series dryer dryer and it will stay on while I am pushing it but quits after 30 sec and smells like a burning smell. We took off the back a nd cleaned it and replaced the door latch because it was bad but now I'm not sure what to replace.

@renee5888 , Renee, You have already completed an important step by cleaning the venting on machine, did you try running with vent hose off. It is possible it is a over heating/faulty motor runs for a bit and overheat/thermal switch shuts it down. Links below may also help in diagnosing and repair. Good luck. Thanks! I did try without dryer hose on but it still didn't work. I'll watch these videos but I was hoping it wasn't motor. :(
Renee, maybe check all the connections also, in case one or more working itself loose or a bad/pinched wire arcing. Thanks for replying back.

What is the model number of the dryer?
Do you mean that it won't start at all or that it starts but then doesn't keep running?
If it starts OK how long does it run for before it stops?
