2007 Equinox - Is my differential failing?

Dealership replaced transmission, two new hubs for the front, there is still howling at speeds of 30 and above, feels like something is holding car back and have went from 25mpg to 17.8. Car slows itself without me braking. I also had an alignment. At one point, traction control light, service stabilatrak, AWD off, abs, lights all came on but went off after 7 hours or so. Please help.

kimberlygilley79, Dealership replaced transmission and two new hubs was an expensive repair. You could try and see if there are any transmission related trouble codes in the vehicles computer. Some of the auto parts suppliers offer free code reading like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts, etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track and regardless whether codes were found or not, take back to the dealer ship that changed the transmission as work should be warranted and tell them of the problem. If they do not think there is a issue, go to a good local transmission shop and have them take a look and if they have a diagnoses that links it to the transmission as the issue, take the written diagnoses with you to the dealer and have them address the issue under warranty.

Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Advance says their scanner doesn't read transmission. I am still open to any suggestions, thanks.

Does the howl sound like its coming from the back ?If so raise the rear of the car an put the car in nuetral and spin the rear wheels one at a time . Is the tire on the other side rotating in the opposite direction or the same as the tire your turning ? Are the tires hard to turn or do thy spin freely. while up in the air grab the tire at the top and bottom and push in and out at the top and bottom . There should be no movement if there is then you have a wheel bearing problem . Move back to the front and raise the front tires off the ground and repeat what you did in the rear . are any of the brakes dragging ? often when a motor or trans are removed from a car the brake lines can be damaged . Dented or crushed to the point were fluid is not releasing when you break and then the dragging happens. Finally check the driveshaft from the front transaxle to the rear is not binding . if the alignment of the transaxle was done incorrectly the axle may actually be binding between the transaxle and the rear differential . To test this you will need to crawl under the car and turn the driveshaft by hand . it wont move much but it should move but if its solid its in too tight and the shaft is binding. Getting the codes read as in @lpfaff1 answer is also an excellent idea . You may also want to take it back to the dealer as its obviously not right . Any good dealer should stand behind there work. Hope this helps
