Ram chip in the MacBook does not want to go back in!

I took the casing off my macbook to clean the fans because they haven't been cleaned and are making a lot of noise. In my naive-ness i took out the ram chips, but now the top one will not stay in, it will get into position but will stay extremely loose. The tabs that hold the two in are still there ( I was careful not the damage them) but seem not to hold on to the top chip, is it possible i damaged something else? if anyone can help me out I would extremely appreciate it as I'm trying to be as delicate as possible and I'm terrifed of forcing the chips too much.

it sounds like the RAM is not seated properly. When the RAM chip is installed it needs to be pushed into the slot (connector) with only a slight amount of pressure before being pushed down, Once properly seated in the RAM slot then pushed downward into the two retaining metal clips to "snap" into place.

The guide above shows how this is done.

while the bottom one may not appear loose it may not be seated correctly too even thou for the time being it is working (the ram only needs to make contact with all of the small connectors in the slot for it to work).

I can not venture a guess about any damage from removing the RAM, trying my best guess listed above would be a start and if it does not work, can trouble shoot from there.
