Hello,
I am having a hard time deciphering the difference in DC Cord Cables for Macbook Pro chargers online. I am looking to repair the cable on my charger(s). Some are broken at the tip, so I cannot reuse the cable (as shown in the iFixit tutorial).
Are there any brands that are better than others? Preferably looking for an 85W compatible cable.

I only recommend using the real Apple unit.
China and the Philippines have made a few knock-offs that look almost exactly the same including the packaging as the real Apple units. Sadly, people have gotten hurt and computers fried by them as they don't understand how Apple designed them or went cheap with the components.
So order it online directly from Apple or go to an Apple Store to grab the correct one. Yes, its a bit more but think about your safety and your computers! As once said Penny-wise, Pound-foolish!
OK now which one do you need? Go to the 'About this Mac', Click on the Support tab, and then click on 'Specifications' it will open a web page of your systems specs. Slide down to the section 'What’s in the box' it will tell you what your system needs for a MagSafe charger. Then jump to this page: Mac Accessories - Chargers to order the correct unit.

I appreciate the input! Looking to fix my existing chargers with new magsafe 1 cables. Let me know if you've had any success with any particular cables.
Not worth the risks!
Apple does not offer the parts and the parts you often find are from the counterfeit junk. Then you will need to break the welded case (and then need to seal it again so you don't fry your self) to get to the contacts and if you do an in-line splice they just don't hold up. I throw away one or two away per week with bad cords as we just don't want to damage the systems which is just too risky. Look at the vid I just added to the top of the reference list.
