I've been connected to the wifi at my house since I got this laptop and it's given me no problems like this. A few days ago I turned on my laptop and it wouldn't connect to the internet. I turned my laptop off, restarted it. I have also clicked forget network and logged back in, and it shows the log in was successful but still says no internet connection. I tried troubleshoot and it said unable to fix problem.

I would try Ethernet if possible and see if that works. if so then its not the network card in your laptop that's broken. If you don't have Ethernet / wired connections (or the above works), then find your laptop model on the HP website below, type in your part number or identify now to find your drivers. Then, download your network driver and install it over your previous driver.

How does one locate and download a driver if unable to connect to the internet?

You go to a public library and use the computers available to the public there, to locate and download the driver from the internet onto a USB flashdrive, (provided by you) then update your computer from it

Please note that connecting to the internet is a 2 step process. You indicate that you can connect to the router (login was successful), yet no internet connection. Have you tried to reset the router yet? If not, try that first. Using a wire to connect to the router will likely result in the same behavior since the wireless connection seems to have worked OK.
Check with your provider to insure that your access is working as expected. Most providers can verify remotely that the router is functioning correctly.
