MacBook VGU has died 3 times in a row with only a few days running

Hi,

I have a 2011, 17" macbook pro and it will not boot past when it changed onto the graphics chip (3/4 into book), i cannot get safemode as same thing happens and the diagnostics doesn't seem to work (holding D).

It went into for a new logic board a few months ago under the special warranty apple put out for my specific model with the chipsets solder becoming unstable.

This has now been back 3 times for 3 logic boards in total, and the last 2 times the laptop only ran for a few hours prior to getting lines across the screen and back to square one.

Does anyone know of something i can attempt to bring this back to life. Currently the only issue i have is it not booting past the graphics chip boot up, when it gets to this section theres a quick flash of a black line across the screen around the middle and then it goes black then the white screen comes on and nothing happens and eventually it turns it self off.

Im open to any suggestions no matter how crude or outlandish as its essentially dead and the 17s arnt made anymore.

Cheers

Brad

It has a 60 days warranty. Get it in ASAP. Talk to a senior advisor. Ask if you need to join the Class Action Law suit or will Apple give you a working machine.

Sounds like a GPU issue. Do what @mayer says, but chances are the new MacBook will fail as well (if it is a 17" 2011 and has failed repeatedly).

I would personally see what Apple can offer to resolve this, or buy a 2010 MacBook Pro 17". I have not seen the GPU issues on the 2010 model, but C9560 will need to be replaced on the logic board to ensure it doesn't randomly crash in future.

I have got back into contact with my product specialist at apple, im taking the MBP back into the shop tomorrow and they are going to talk to him about how to proceed as this will be the 4th logic board in total for this laptop.
