Hi @deniscon

You say that it doesn't work anymore.

What phone(s) did it work with before, the same iPhone 6s you mentioned? Also what exactly is not happening? Can you pair OK etc?

A bit more detail as to the problem and also any relevant details e.g. phone upgrade or update, car power problem perhaps, might get some more helpful answers, if the firmware update didn't solve it.

Hi, here's how to update the firmware.

1) Firmware is at this page along with manual to upgrade.

http://www.jvc.net/cs/car/firmware/2014/...

2) Download the firmware (ends in .rom) at the bottom of the page.

3) Copy the Firmware to a thumb drive.

4) Connect Thumb drive to the radio

5) Press and hold MENU

6) Turn VOL knob and select SETTINGS, then press the VOL knob

7) Turn VOL knob and select F/W Update, then press the VOL knob

8) Turn VOL knob and select SYSTEM, then press the VOL knob

9) Press the VOL knob again

10) Turn VOL knob and select YES, then press the VOL knob

The firmware should update at this point.

11) After about 5 minutes the update should complete. Press the Detach to button Release the faceplate

12) Press the RESET button for the update to take affect. and put the faceplate back on.

Hi @avanteguarde

Just wondering if a device with BT4 BLE (iPhone) will work with BT2.1+EDR.(JVC) Should be backward compatible but...

Have read that it only works one way i.e BT4 BLE to BT 2.1 +EDR works but BT2.1 +EDR to BT4 doesn't. If I understand thsi right.

Hi @jayeff, I have my iPhone 6+ connected to a 2009 Motorola S305 bluetooth (2.1+EDR) headset and I can listen to music and make phone calls on it. The argument in the thread is that BT 2.1+EDR will not support BT4 protocols such as handoff (BT LE). So older Macs do not have the handoff feature even if they have the latest OS X because the bluetooth in older models is either 2.1+EDR or 3. The thread also says that a BT4 device can talk to both BT4 and BT 2.1 but not at the same time. Hope this helps!

Hi,

Once again, thank you. The mud has cleared a little.

Hi Jayeff, no problem.

For more read, go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth, and scroll down to features and specifications. It roughly lays out what each version increment adds over the previous.

Here is a link to a definition of what all the strange abbreviations and acronyms mean and stand for.

Note that manufacturers still can choose to limit or disable protocols. For example, I cannot pair a Bluetooth headset with a Sony TV (boo!), and Apple will not let iPhones set up file sharing over bluetooth.
