Black Screen/Kernel Panics at Startup, Keyboard/Trackpad Issues

I have a 2007 MacBook Pro that has a couple issues. Here are the main 3 I am dealing with at the moment:

1. The keyboard and trackpad have been non-functional for a while. I am not sure what caused this (no liquids were spilled on it). I have been using a USB keyboard/mouse and that works fine, but would love to have a solution that would allow for normal use.

2. The computer was experiencing kernel panics starting last month. I upgraded the OS to Snow Leopard and that fixed it, for a little while, but they did come back even after running disk utilities to fix things.

3. Most problematic, after trying to fix a kernel panic I went to restart the computer and while the light went on and the startup sound was present the screen simply remains black. I have tried the PRAM reset and a number of different startup variations without luck so far.

What I would most like to do in this order is:

1. Recover any/all data from the Macbook (I backed it up a week ago, but have some newer stuff on there that I would like if possible). Any suggestions here would be great, I do have an external hard-drive, a PC, and access to a friend's Imac if any of those help in this process.

2. Get the screen to display, since then I will at least be able to attempt to address the kernel panics and get data recovered more easily.

3. Fix the kernel panics, and possibly the keyboard/trackpad issues as well.

Again, there is nothing to indicate that the computer had liquid on it or anything like that, It has not been dropped or seriously damaged at any point. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
