Touchpad stopped working with no reason

I have 1 month old Asus zenbook flip, perfect laptop for me. But today, while I was watching film, touchpad stopped working. Never dropped, flooded or damaged in any way. I've tried Fn+F9 key combo, tried reinstalling driver for touchpad (this message pop up: http://ivanrf.com/wp-content/uploads/201... ) and ATK package, I even can't find the device in device management, on mouse and pointing devices I only can see the external mouse.... Tried clean windows install with ssd format, nothing changed....

Should I bring it in the store, it's still under warranty or you think the problem is software ?

It's like there is no touchpad at all :/

I am having the exact same issue you are, as of today. I was wondering if you ever found a fix? I have tried reinstalling drivers and the ATK package but I get the same errors you got.

Same issue with touchpad and touchscreen on Asus Zenbook UX360C and Windows 10 release 1709, I2C HID drivers on error (code 10).

Tried to reinstall the driver from Internet with no effect. Drivers on Asus site don't execute with error "there is a problem with this windows installer package"

I called ASUS support, their reply : "Your computer is not compatible with this release of Windows 10. Either rollback to a previous release of Windows or wait for the next one". Amazing !

After 2 Hotfixes from Windows on my brand New AsusVivoBook Flip (14zoll 8GB /256Gb) my Touchpad gave up - No reaction! Even no Installed Device recognizeable...!!! So if there is no Touchpad at all..

So I tried the "BIOS Check"

(Hold F2 while PC is starting); then under Advanced Settings

the "Internal pointing device" was enabled.((!! Yes it was enabled!)

So i switched the parameter to "disabled" and back to "enabled" and Saved BIOS with "Save and Exit"

WONDER:

Touchpad was running as good as before the Hotfixes...

HOLY COW you saved me. I tried everything else too - ATK, drivers, etc, everything- but as soon as did what you said (reset, F2, Advanced options, Internal pointing device on-to-off-to-on), it worked again! You have NO idea how happy this made me! Thanks and bless you :)

I have the same ASUS ZenBook UX360CAK and same problem after last updates of Windows 10. I tried EVERYTING and this suggestion at last yesterday. Yes it works, after that intervention in BIOS but but today - nothing again. I restart system, go again in the BIOS and mouse - again appear?!?! Shot down and again turn on and mouse is there.... (At the moment of writing this it freezes at te moment, i touch the screen, it disappeare again, I touch Ctrl, it appear again.... I notice that when I start to typing here it happend again and now I dont know where is it..... Hey here is again here, but freezes at screen....)Tried everything earlier and mouse behave so crazy... It appear on the start, dont move on the screen, when I touch screen it dissapear... Sometimes after some tries of combo Fn+f3 it appear and work... and so on). Is there problem with the lid, power or .... well I dont know? Is there any permanent solution for this or I have to reboot laptop and go to BIO everytime when mouse doesn`t appear or stop working? Nightmare... Help!

Thank you so much man really appreciate it. For me on my Acer Aspire 5 i just had to turn on basic touch pad functions load up windows to see it was working again (but i couldn't scroll or do other things) then i just went back into the bios and turned on advanced touch pad functions then everything was working as normal again. Thanks again.

Hi,

Just confirming that you tried installing the latest version ATK package and Smart Gesture drivers.

Here is a link. Install the ATK package first then the Smart Gesture drivers.

http://ivanrf.com/en/latest-asus-drivers...

Be aware of the Notes: near the top of the page which says how to install the drivers.

If this fails to restore the trackpad:

1. check in Device Manager if there is a listing for "Other Devices" at all and see if it is the Touchpad.

2. check in Control Panel > Mouse and see if there is a Trackpad tab option and see if it is disabled there.

Having tried all the above and it is still not working as you have said it is still under warranty , then yes get it repaired under warranty. That's what the warranty is for.

Did you ever get this to work Ivaylo? I am having a similar issue

I have the same problem, tried the solutions suggested by Jayeff, and... nothing. I have looked at several tutorials on Youtube, about that kind of problem with laptops from other brands, and it seems that there is always an easy solution. With the Asus laptop, the biggest problem is that THE EXISTENCE OF THE TOUCHPAD IS SIMPLY NOT ACKNOWLEDGED in the settings!!! You will find stuff about a mouse, but nothing specific about a touchpad!!! It kinda feels like the twilight zone. Same thing with the f keys on top of the keyboard, none of them features a touchpad icon... It's just insane...

I have had the same issues with the Vivobook flip 14 since it was purchased. When I mentioned it to Asus they suggested that I send the laptop in for repair which I did and they replaced the touchpad. Problem is that they also voided my warranty for any future repairs due to “tampering”. I can only imagine that they were referring to the upgraded ram I installed as it was the only alteration I ever made to the device. Anyways, the new touchpad started to fail about a month later and I depended on a bluetooth mouse ever since. I can’t find any way to justify repairing it out of pocket. I’ve decided to put the expense toward saving for a Framework laptop.

I had the same problem with my:

ASUS ZENBOOK UX434FL CI716 / 1TB MX250 14 "W10P.

It was purchased in November 2019 and the problem arose in October 2020.

It was repaired on warranty. According to the service announcement, the touchpad was replaced. Now I have the same problem and no guarantee.

I will definitely follow "BIOS Check"

Thanks to Mike Note
