No wifi hardware installed

Just completed the tutorial on tightening the loose display screen. Everything went perfectly but when I powered back up it said I have no wifi hardware installed. I tried doing all the PRAM resets and all but no change. I did somehow pop off one of the connectors for the 3 little gold wifi wires but I was able to crimp it back on and it seems fine. Also the Bluetooth is not recognized anymore either. Do I need a new airport card or wifi antenna? If so where can I find it? Thanks guys. Appreciate any help.

Hey there!

Looks like your display is no longer connecting to your airport board, or your board was damaged while you were tightening your display. Unfortunately, those little gold connectors have a very small core, which makes putting them back together successfully a bit more difficult than it may appear. I'd try replacing the board if you've made sure everything looks like it's going to the right places. If a new board still isn't being recognized, you're basically looking at getting a new display, or finding where the fault in your current monitor is. Here's hoping it's the former! When handling the bluetooth boards, make sure to touch the gold connection at the end.

Best of luck on your repair!

The iSight camera still works fine which is why I was inclined to think it was the wifi antenna (a1425) that might need to be replaced??? Any way I can test to see if it's the board or the antenna itself before replacing them?

@bigmike45 The iSight cable is the longer cable, and doesn't run with the wifi/bluetooth, so it makes sense that it still works. You can try to see if you can get current readings that are consistent throughout your connections if you have a multimeter. I don't have the expected voltages handy, but if you are clearly not getting a response from your board or from your connectors, you should be able to isolate the issue.

Ok upon further investigation I noticed one of the little gold connectors for the 3 wifi cables has broken off. What can I do to either put a new one on or replace the wire with an end on it? It's the one closest to the ports with the long black sleeve on it. Would that one wire cause the wifi and Bluetooth to not show up or do I still have a problem with the airport board?
