Why am I loosing cellular signal?

My iPhone 6 is really weird.

It will loose cellular network at night time and it will just say "No Network" or constantly say "Searching.."

No on/off, flight mode on/off, hard reset, network setting reset, setting reset or content and setting reset will work. Even setting up as a new iPhone will not prevent it.

Now the weird part is, that if I disconnect the battery and connect it again, then it works!!! All day only to loose cellular network next day towards night time.

Then I reconnect the battery again and I can go another day. I am on my 4th day now.

So everything works, just not as it supposed to. Really annoying to have to open the phone everyday.

Does anyone have an idea of what is going on? :-(

Thank you. :)

Have you checked that the IMEI number of the phone has not been barred / blocked?

Also the last time I had this issue I could not solve it. It's probably one of those apple defect issues in terms of baseband chip or the cellular radio switching thing I forgot what it was called but I think it's some capacitor used to get power to it.

Gosh, this is weird. I'm gonna go hardware. Replace the antennae cable

iPhone 6 Logic Board Antenna Flex Cable

But it is weird, that it works for a day, after power cycling. Anybody else?

Har bestilt et nyt Logic Board antenne flex cable, men kan ikke se hvordan sådan et cable pludselig kan stå af uden at have haft motherboardet ude før.

Men eliminere gerne muligheden.

Hey guys, no offense intended but it would certainly be more helpful for the community if this conversation took place in english (Hey gutter, nogen lovovertrædelse beregnet, men det ville sikkert være mere nyttigt for samfundet, hvis denne samtale fandt sted i engelsk.).

The antenna cable showed above is only for wifi. Your actual signal cable is attached to your dock connector/charging port assembly. You could try replacing that.

Also I would check for bends in your frame (metal back housing). This frame actually acts as an antenna and if its bent or damaged it could be causing problems receiving service.

Hi Stephen.

I swapped the motherboard over with another working iPhone 6 and the working motherboard made the rest of my phone work fine. However the working phone that now have my motherboard in it got the No service problem. So I believe the fault is in the motherboard and not the casing or any of the connections.

High likelihood you have a power amplifier failure there are low band mid band and high and signal amplifiers 2g,3g,4g

Hi Tonyhamre.

Would that mean they are all faulty and where are they located on the iPhone 6?

i have just gone over your post again and will try to explain my thoughts.

the iPhone has what is called a TriStar (U2) many call this a charging IC but in fact it is a high speed switch. the TriStar switches three things on the iPhone.

the Mains voltage/Battery voltage the CPU and the Baseband Modem.

your description of unplugging the battery suggests a switching fault on the Modem switch of the Tristar as when you disconnect and reconnect the battery you are resetting the switch. i would look at getting the Tristar replaced as a elimination

Hi Tonyhamre.

Thank you so much for your advice and thoughts. Sounds like a very qualified guess. Unfortunately I won't find out as I ended up selling it as a defect phone.

I can replace everything except for things on the motherboard, so this repair was outside my skill set, so I felt I better leave it to someone who can do it themselves without having to pay $300 for it.

I hate giving up on things, but I felt this was too risky for me.

Thank you for all your help thou. ;-)
