my ipod nano is froze,will not change or shut off. is there a way to totally reset it without itunes because itunes will not recognize it.

Yep- press and hold Menu and the center button.

okay, but mine is dead and i tunes won't recognize it. So i can't reset it and i can't charge it. how do i fix that?

when you say it is dead, do you mean the battery is dead? have you replaced the battery?
