Graphics card failure? or more an isssue with the LCD screen?

Hi,

I've recently bougth an secondhand imac 27" late 2009 I5

But since a couple of days my screen goes black, but the machine is running fine, if i put my machine to sleep by using the power button and wake the machine up the screen works again, sometimes it goes black after 10 minutes, sometimes it takes hours until it goes black.

there are some really thin small lines on a couple places on the screen but from a normal view you won't notice, so i thought it could be a problem with the graphics card, i cleaned it, new paste and the heat is down but the issue is still there.

secondly ive noticed that i didnt had a v-sync cable (almost every how to page is tell me something about a v-sync but there is also nothing on the lcd screen itselfs, only the LCD backligt cable, temp sensor cable and the signal cable.

i can't get the hardware test to launch to thats also no an option, i did noticed when the screen goes black if i use a flashlight i still can see the applications, so is there a problem with the backlight of the lcd, or is it the module from the lcd or the power supply or still the graphics card that i said in the beginning?

anyone some advice? cheers

peter
