Left USB not working after liquid spill and cleaning

Early 2014 13" Air: left USB stopped working after major liquid spill and subsequent tear down and cleaning. After the "accident" I inverted the computer and dried with a large fan for 48 hours. Then tore down the machine, removed the I/O card and gave it thorough cleaning with Isopropyl. Luckily after reassembly and for 1 more day everything working fine. But today, day 3 following cleaning, left USB stopped working. I'm ready to replace the I/O board and have one ordered. But wanted to see if the community has any other suggestions before I proceed with the replacement.

Try an I/O board, check the I/O cable for burnt pins and also the I/O port on the logic board.

Check the bottom of the board for liquid too, since there are some components which are for the external USB port on the I/O board.

I did check and clean bottom of the board. I will check the cable. But would a bad cable only effect the USB? The MagSafe power input and the headphone jack are also on the board and working fine? Thanks

If there was liquid on the bottom of the board, check to see if any components were affected or burnt in the area, this is likely causing your issue. Yes, the cable can be burnt on one of the pins for transmitting USB data (the pins for speaker, headphone jack, etc are separate).

Don't spend too much time until you try a test I/O board first.

Actually. A bad I/O board cable can also affect the audio functionality of the MacBook including headphone jack.

The I/O board has an cirrus audio chip on it which controls the audio and headphone jack audio.

The reason I know this is because I just had a MacBook Pro 13" come in this week with liquid inside the connector and ribbon cable connector side as well which stopped internal speaker and headphone speaker audio from working at all.

Yes that's what I mean, the speaker, headphone jack, etc are on different pins of the I/O cable. It is possible for just the USB not to work if this pin was burnt, and the ones for audio are not.

Had one like this before (wasn't charging battery, but turned on fine) which was caused by a bad I/O port, see Dim Green Light, Turns On Fine, Not Charging Battery
