Installation OS X gets stuck

Hi all,

I have some funky issue with my mac. I'll try to describe what when prior in a concise manner first.

My Macbook Pro 13" mid 2012 didn't want to open a specific program, complaining about missing some json file. I tried to restart my system, but it got stuck and kept crashing (rebooting) at the start up, with text throughout the startup screen. I repaired the file systems via disk utility and using fsck -fy, and basically tried every suggestion found here: http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac/10-...

I managed to get on, but had trouble with various things, such as changing settings (telling me I don't have access), internet certificates, and it would occasionally get stuck, forcing me to reboot. I tried to reinstall the operating system (tried mavericks (original version when I aquired the macbook), yosemite (which was the last version on there) and el capitano), but was unsuccesful. I could not even format the disk.

Based on these phenomena, it seemed that it might be the disk (there was a one-year old Samsung SSD 850 evo 500GB in there), and thus I ordered a new SSD (exact same type as before). I installed this, but to no avail: unable to format it or install an operating system. Using an ICY box, both SSDs could be formatted, but still the installation of the operating system gets stuck after fitting it back into the mac ( without error messages).

Currently, I don't really know what could be wrong. My best guess is that it might be the cable connecting the SSD to the motherboard. Or maybe it is the motherboard, but I would have expected different behaviour, meaning a more severe malfunctioning system. I am considering bringing it in to an expert, but would like to ask you if you have any suggestions as to what might be wrong, what I might have forgotten, or not thought of.

Your input would be greatly appreciated, best regards,

Michiel

First, I would try to boot into safe mode. Safe mode:

-Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

-Loads only required kernel extensions

-Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

-Disables user-installed fonts

-Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

If this doesn't fix the issue, Is it possible for you to create a bootable USB drive using another computer? This could isolate an issue to the SATA interface between the motherboard and SSD. However, this is unlikely as SATA cable issues are not this intermittent. It would help if you could post the text that shows up when the system crashes during startup, that could help me to understand the problem better.

Also, issues with internet certificates and such could likely be an unrelated issue - check to see if the system clock is set correctly. If you have removed the battery, or done something similar, your MacBook will reset the system clock to an incorrect time, which will cause these types of issues.
