MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 - Model: A1278) Random Shutdown on BATTERY ONLY!

I have a MacBook Pro ( 13-inch - Mid 2012 - 2.9 GHz i7 - Model A1278 ) that is randomly shutting down when on battery power. So long as the MagSafe is plugged in, it operates perfectly. But if I'm on battery power, it will only be a few minutes before it blacks out. Strangely enough, if I put the MagSafe back on it will reboot on its own (without me pressing the power button) and pick up right where I left off (i.e. all my applications that were running are still there).

The battery is pretty new ( less than a year; 31 cycles, Condition: Normal ), the laptop never seems to get hot ( no thermal system logs), I've already reset the SMC and PRAM, I've cleaned out any dust bunnies, it's never been exposed to liquids, I've replaced the fan, SSD drive, upgraded the RAM. It's a terrific laptop, just not very portable at the moment as it crashes on battery power!

Appreciate any advice I can get! Thanks in advance.

Let's get a better look at that battery. Please download, run and post your results from Coconut Battery:

UPDATE

Newertech is a high quality battery.

After seeing your error code try a PRAM reset:

Here's how to reset your PRAM:

Shut down your machine. Yes, all the way down, not sleep or logging out.

Press the power button and then press command-option-p-r. ...

Hold those keys down until your Mac reboots again and you here the startup chime.

Let go of the keys and let your Mac reboot normally.

I added a screenshot of my Coconut Battery results ... thanks for your quick reply.

Note the image on the right says the battery is not connected but the one on the left says it is. Strange. Pull the plug on the battery and see if you have any bent pins. Why did you replace the battery? Was the same thing happening?

Hmm ... I checked coconutBattery again ... now the Power Adapter reads 60 watts like it should. I'll open the laptop and check for bent pins ( UPDATE: They're straight as an arrow. See picture above. ).

I replaced the battery because the original was up around 900 cycles and wasn't holding a charge for very long. The replacement battery was working fine until recently. The random shutdown started within the last six weeks or so ... at first I though a fresh OS install fixed it, but it's doing it again and much more frequently.

Is this a knock off battery? I really don't have a good answer and that does not happen often. I just don't know.

If known good battery doesn't solve this, my money is on current sense resistor needing replacement.

I would recommend you to remove all the unsupported applications (if you are running any) and reinstall MacOS, might help!

I recently tried a fresh install of El Capitan 10.11.6 ... I thought that fixed things, but after a while the random restarts started occurring again. Thanks for your comment.
