ihome iPL8BN not working

My ihome's battery died a year ago and I stopped using the ihome because I didn't have time to get a new one til this week. I put the battery in screwed the top back and plugged it in, but the only thing that works is the clock to set an alarm. The power button doesn't work and it doesn't connect when I put my phone on it. I checked to see if the adapter is plugged in good . Also I made sure that it was plugged into a good outlet. I got this ihome in 2015 December and I really need help, thanks
