my iPhone 5s recently died from a battery. when I plugged it in its just showing the background. no time or writing appears. I have home button assist on and that doesn't help at all. it won't let me restart when a hold the sleep button down or turn off. any answers.

Have you tried hard reset by pressing the home+ power button for a few seconds until it restarts?
