Verical single red line. Only used 4 months

Block Image

Please help guys. I bought a brand new Samsung UN75JU7500 UHD Tv. Had it professionally calibrated. Used it without flaws for about 4 months until all of a sudden while watching TV a vertical red line appeared. Singled vertical red line.

The vertical red line is bright and starts from the top goes almost to the bottom where it gets dimmer and ends.

So far I've done the following.

Factory reset.

Tried different hdmi and sources.

1 important note. Red line is behind tv menus and cursor. In other words cursor appears to overlap the line if you place it on top of the line.

Please help me resolve this issue as I can't take it back to samsung even though it's under warranty. Reason. I've shipped it out of North America to a remote island in the south. Now I'm stuck with it.

Help.

Update (10/30/2016)

@oldturkey03 please see these pics and let me know which one is the t-con board , just want to make sure. Before I proceed. Btw, I have taken out all the ribbons cables and reseated them.

Thanks for your quickly reply.

Yea Belize reef. Got satellite and internet. In this day and age you can't live without net. (Remote enough for me)

Since my tv is a north american model, assembled in mexico. I found a samsung part shop online and they have pretty much everything for my tv in parts even the panel which costs more than 3k.

Hopefully it can be fixed.

I've seen many videos on YouTube and from the looks of it. The ribbon cable you are talking about are simply placed on the panel with glue. Are those the ones I'm looking for ?

First image bottom board is the one I'd focus on.

@dkdan send me an email with your board numbers so I can check on something. My address is on my about page (just click on my name or Avatar)

Try changing HDMI cable with a good one some HDMI especially cheap ones can cause this problem

@dkdan remote island in the south? Hope you got satelitte. Anyhow this could be a tab error, which would be bad. That is the binding that attaches the thin ribbon cables to the actual panel. If you open up the back of your set and apply some pressure on the thin ribbon cable near to where the line starts, see if that changes the characteristcs of the line. If so it's the TAB. Almost impossible to permanenetly repair. You can always use some tape to see if you can exert constant pressure to keep the line from appearing. The other issue could be (unlikely so) a T-con board error. Let us know what you find once you go through the steps.

@dkdan yes those are the cables. If you push on it you may see that the line changes on even dispappears.

@oldturkey can you help me to locate the backlight fuse of a macbook pro 15“ mid 2014, model A1398 2.2g 16gb J45A, serial number C02N263ZG3QC. please am desperate.

@oldturkey03 tried it and it only seems to bring in black lines thin and thick lines . So I pressed those ribbons firmly and got rid of black vertical lines. RED line stays stable.

No effect at all.

Ribbon cables seem to have carbon printed on them which is glued to the panel. Very much similar to old LED calculators. I used to able to fix missing digits or double image on digital calculators the same way you described and you are right if those cables mess up I doubt it can be fixed.

So now what do I do?

da

@dkdan only other thing I can think of would be the T-con board. That is the board where the flat ribbon cables to the LCD connect to. Make sure that those wires are properly seated and clean. Of course you always want to do a visual check on any of the capacitors and see if they are domed or leaking.

Danny go to youtube in the tv, and go to the video screen pixel test.

Please see image. I am interested in checking if the RED LINE that I have on my screen switches its spot.

NOTE:- T-CON board has 2 pairs . One pair drives Half the screen and 2nd pair drives other half of the screen. Both ribbon cables on a pair need to be connected to see image on the screen. If I remove one of the ribbons the screen goes blank on that side.

SO I am wondering (Please see image) Is it okay without further damaging the tv that I can cross insert the cables to see if Red line would switch to a different location on that side, this in theory would prove its the T-CON board and not the panel.

What are your thoughts

@dkdan that might just work.

da

@oldturkey03 I did that and now I get no display at all. I've put everything back to original place. All I can see is backlit when I turn it on. But no menus or any display of any kind.

Any suggestions now?

da

@dkdan unplug the set and let it sit. It may just need to discharge
