dropped 3GS in toilet. Dried then cleaned. Battery low & not charging

I dropped the phone in the can. Dried it with rice then Silica. It took charge at this point but had crap reception, kept dropping calls, despite registering full bars. Took it apart and cleaned (with 91% alcohol) the logic board. Put it back together and everything works great now but battery won't charge and computers will not recognize phone (multiple chargers, cables, and computers used). Took it apart again and cleaned the dock connector but no go. Then cleaned the bottom part of battery and still no go. The phone works great but the battery is getting low.

Does anyone know from info provided if this is a battery, logic board, or dock connector issue?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Update: Replaced battery. Phone powers up and works great. However, not accepting a charge or sync with computer. I assume that the dock connector needs to be replaced (as the alternative appears to be a blown logic board).

Any thoughts on if the logic board's only limitation is a charging / syncing issue. Is this even possible? I am ordering a dock replacement now and will post results. #^%!, I feel soo close!

Toast. New battery and new dock connector. Phone works great but will not charge or sync. Looks like logic board is shot. I can't think of anything else to try. Thanks for the help.

Most likely to be battery with water damage. Most phones I've repaired after water damage have all needed battery replacement for not charging/recognized. Seems they're quite vulnerable.

Thanks for the reply. Is your experience that batteries will continue to work until drained but not accept charge/recognize? I had it charging after drying but then lost that after cleaning. Thought I might have damaged connector 4 cable due to cleaning underneath it (slightly bent little metal solder points in cable right before the disappear into the dock connector). Any experience with batteries taking a charge then failing a few days later?

Most charge/discharge erratically or won't charge fully. A few times the dock has also been damaged. If you think you've damaged main board pin try gently bending back into position. Have had an iPhone that refused to charge more than 60% mo matter that I replaced battery. That's the trouble with water damage it's unpredictable. Try fixing no4 and if that's no good I'd replace your battery.(another good clean can't hurt iso doesn't always get rid of all debris first go)

Sounds like you're winning. Replace the dock and that should be it! Sometimes happens that both need replacing. Most repairs are just working through possible faults, it's a bit hit and miss sometimes! Hopefully this is a hit
