Which model?

My guess (just a semi-blind guess) is that it's a cracked fuel line. Is it attached by a clamp to the gas tank stem / nozzle?

Soluzione Prescelta

I solved the problem myself. None of the answers from fixit were even close. The leak was from a worn bushing which the fuel tank stem is inserted into. Replaced it myself.

I'm having the same trouble. Where did you find the bushing to replace it?

Thanks

Leo, If your lawn tractors gas tank is indeed cracked and leaking fuel, a lot of fuel tanks are made from polyethylene, a plastic that is almost impossible to repair with glues and epoxies. The best fix would be to remove it from tractor, drain fuel, rinse it out with warm soapy water to remove fumes, let dry and then plastic weld hole/crack for best repair.

You can google search for how to plastic weld, there are a few different ways. You may be able to rent a plastic welder at the local rentalls store and they may be able to instruct/set you up.

If using a plastic welder for the first time, practice before attempting to repair the plastic gas tank.

Another option would be to stop into the local body shop and have them weld it up or check at a small engine repair shop and see if they have a used tank to sell. Good luck.

Leo, sorry when you mentioned bushing, I thought your tank was leaking from a crack at the molded fuel tank mount/bushing. Good to here you found the nipple seal leaking and were able to correct. Have a good day.
