Power on light but display doesn't turn on, can adapter be repaired?
The Cinema HD Display 150w Power Adapter produces an "on" light on the 30" inch, but the display itself doesn't turn on. Monitor itself is fine with working adapter.
Can this be repaired?
I can google that it needs a Dremel to be cut open : "Use a Dremel to carefully cut around the seam until it was thin enough to crack apart. --- There's one huge capacitor (Rubycon KXW 450V 150 uF) that needs to be discharged before the power supply will start up. --- Be careful, because it's charged to over 100 volts. Solder a 600 k ohm resistor across it to bleed off the charge a little faster." (Thanks Buscar at Apple Stackexchange)
Is the discharge what needs to be done or is there a component that typically needs to be swapped or resoldered? Without that piece of information I can't see reason to break it open and I won't know what my tech friend is supposed to look for; and I'm not gonna open a working one to compare outputs.
Questa è una buona domanda?

@esha9751 the discharge of the capacitor is what needs to be done before you do anything to the monitor. It is a safety precaution so that you do not get zapped and have a hair raising, heart stopping experience while you work on it.
