Sony Bravia LED red light blinks 6 times (Backlight error)

When I perform a factory reset of the TV (by continuously pressing UP key on the remote and power button on the TV once), the TV operates normally for around 12-15 minutes. Then the display turns off and red light on the TV blinks 6 times (which I found out stands for backlight error).

There are no areas on the display that seem dimly lit when the TV is operational.

I tried disconnecting and re-connecting all the cables from the different boards just in case it was an issue of a bad connection somewhere. No help from that.

Resetting only solves the problem temporarily. This is what the self-check shows:

I have red led six time blink

da

I read the service manual b/c my sony bravia blinks red light 6 times. It is a back light problem and the main problems acording to the manual are the G board (gl3 board which has the power supply) or the lcd panel itself. The secondary cause, yet less common, is the B board. Those componets can cost alone $150-325. In mine the led strip flickers before the TV shuts off. and blinking the red light. So it makes sense that the CPU sees a voltage discrepancy and shuts down the system!

Did buying a power supply board help solve your issue? Your issue is what I am getting. Its flickers and part of the screen goes black and it shuts off doing 6 red flashes.

Renewed both boards still flashing 6 times with black screen

My Sony Bravia KDL/65W850C does not have picture at all. Just 6 red flashing lights. Is there a video that actually instructs you how to take apart and test this TV. Saw one where the guy replaced an LED strip, but the TV was already taken apart and he claims he broke a plastic piece, really!!

Even if the led strips light up, I noticed the Sony bravia from recent 2017 and up ha e some sort of check feature on the main board. It searches for correct voltage in the led strip and if the voltage is off higher or lower it shuts down, you need to change the led strip this will solve you problem but first you should buy the power supply tcon and mainboard first, If that doesn't solve the issue you should replace the led strips those led strips are always going bad. Additionally please buy your boards from shopjimmy.com not ebay. Ebay boards cant be trusted the sellers are not pros they will sell a board without knowing if it works or not or if you will buy a board from eBay buy a board from a power seller with 100% feedback.

Hi. My TV is the SONY KDL- 49W660E

and this is actually a matter of separating

piece of the power supply module and red light blinks 6 times .I opened the TV and connected the electronic part (inductor or self )and TV turn on but the piece starts to heat up (little by little) and after 15 to 30 minutes , It's very very hot and and cut off again and TV off & red light blinks 6 times again . I tested the backlight separately , Two LED backlight strips are correct.

where is the problem?

PLS help me. thanks

Ok, I repaired this issue before, the led bulbs in your led screen are bad 6 blinking lights means the led strip has dead led diodes and the televisions mainboard tells the tv to go into shutdown mode. You can buy the led strip on ebay or aliexpress. Sony dropped the ball on these models the led strips fail consistently. I built a suction jig with 6 suction pads using aluminum bars I bought from home depot to lift the led display module . This repair is not easy but it can be done. If you need help with how to remove the led display I can put a tutorial together I advise you buy the led strips not the led bulbs. You can buy a tv led strip tester on ebay to test which led strip is defective.

Can you send me a tutorial please of how to rescue the backlight and swap it over for a new led strip ? Suction pads video needed too x

Since the back light works for a period of time, we can assume that the LED strips are working. I would look at the power supply or the LED driver area for a problem. This could be as simple as a poor connection that fails once it heats up or a component failure. Without access to the TV and some testing with meters etc, this will be tricky to locate. Both the Tcon and back light errors can arise from power problems. I would start there.

Post a photo of the boards. Perhaps something can be seen. Keep us posted on progress.

When you say power supply you mean the small box that connects from the plug with the lead then into the TV

Sometimes you can bypass the issue by disconnecting and grounding the backlight error wire.

In which case does grounding BL_ERR work? What voltages are normal on BL_ERR and what are the voltages in the bag case resulting in 6 blinks?
