Phone heated up and then went blank. Does not start again
While playing a game on my iphone 6, the phone started heating up. Could not close the game even by pressing the home button. Suddenly the screen went blank and the phone continued heating up. Then I removed the SIM and it gradually cooled down. Thereafter the phone does not start and neither does it get charged. Any clue on what could have been the problem?
Had taken this to the apple authorized repair shop, however, they did not look at the issue, only advised me to get a replacement by paying almost $400. Not convinced with this approach.
I would like to know if anyone has faced this problem before and what could be the possible problem and solution.

I would say immediately hold the power and home button for 10 seconds but it's too late now. Sounds like the power management ic has overheated or at worst even the CPU (Do iPhones have a separate GPU chip? I don't know.) which is probably a goner.
