Try pressing on/off, vol up, vol dn and then hold down home until the picture of charge cord pointing up saying to connect to pc and restart using iCloud. You may need to do this several times before it is recognized. This may restore back to factory new if you do not have a current backup on iCloud.
My issue is after getting to that screen it will go blank again once I unplug the charge cord possibily indicating the battery has lost connection to the processor. It will keep trying to reboot but then fails entering a never ending loop trying to start, going blank then trying to start (apple logo appears briefly each time)..
Good luck.

Just happened to mine. No combination of key presses will bring it back up. Quite the coincidence, just last month I made my LAST installment payment on this device with my cellular provider.

My IPad 9.7 Pro (Air) started to act up right after the last software update...showing full charge and working normally one day, then an hour later total shutdown black screen dead. Left it on a table for dead, come back a few days later and it works like nothing ever happened. Today it’s dead again, even after having it plugged since last time it resuscitated...I hooked it to an amp meter and it shows no drawing of energy (no consumption of amps), so it is flat
