Phone recognises Sim Card, sees number but says "No Service"

So I've received an iPhone 6s which was water damaged.

After having had it through the ultrasonic cleaner I turned it on and it all worked, at least that's what I thought.

The issue is that the phone recognises the sim card inside, shows me the phone number in iTunes and even tells me that I've inserted a wrong sim (its locked).

But after inserting a sim card it goes to "Searching" and then within a couple of seconds goes to "No Service".

I've replaced the antenna on the device and still nothing.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

That's exactly what I am trying to work out before I start taking off the emi Shields.

I tired ringing that number from my phone and the phone just crashed, not sure if that's related but that's what happened.

Everything works perfectly so I assumed it was just the antenna (it did look worse for wear).

There seems to be something obvious that I am missing.

I guess it will be the emi Shields next

This is probably a stupid question, but do you actually have no service? If you do, take off the emi shields and check for burned components, especially around the baseband.

Also, make sure the sim is activated and provisioned for service. Usually when the baseband is damaged, it will be stuck on "Searching" and not show "No Service"

Thanks guys for your answers.

I know it's not blacklisted as I've checked the iMEi, I also know the Sim is activated as I use it as a test sim in other devices.

I will open up the EMI Shield and have a play with that stuff and get it through the ultrasonic cleaner again.

If you recently bought the phone there is a chance it could be blacklisted. The phone will act like this if the IMEI has been blacklisted by the carrier.

I have a blacklisted iPhone 5 and it works fine with a sim and shows service.

Depends on your locale. In Canada, if it's blacklisted the IMEI is refused when registering on the network. Cheers for the downvote tho.

Sorry, I didn't know that. I live in the us. Un-downvoted. :)

Cheers, thanks! It's been getting crazy up here. You can hardly buy used anymore because people can still blacklist the phone days after you register it in your account!

I've had a similar problem with a iPhone 6 i was working on, i think it ended up being a fried coil or something, definitely a hardware issue

The iPhone could be locked to a specific network like O2 or EE so your sim would not work with the phone until it was unlocked

If it was locked it would say sim not valid.

sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't i have a iphone 6 with an O2 sim in with no service but it doesn't tell me the sim isn't valid
