Touch screen going a little crazy

So I recently replaced my screen and digitiser in what felt like a smooth replacement with no hiccups. I turned the phone on and everything was working as normal. The next day I was using it for a while when all of the sudden the screen stopped recognising my touches and what began what I can only describe as "jumping around", like phantom touches were being made in different areas of the screen and if I were to scroll up an app like Facebook of Safari, as soon as release my touch it would scroll back to where I started. It also felt as though even after my finger is removed from the screen, it would still appear to be held on there.

I managed to reboot my phone and the problem would disappear then maybe reoccur anywhere between 2 and 15 minutes later. Sometimes simply putting the phone to sleep and unlocking it will ease it for a few minutes as well. The randomness of the occurrences are what's throwing me off. I'm going to reconnect the screen shortly but was wondering if there's any other things I should check under the hood whilst I'm in there?

Also I made a fresh install of iOS 9.3.3 in case it was a software issue or bugged Cydia tweak but the problem persists.

Thanks in advance.

You more than likely have a bad digitizer. I would try to get a refund and buy another one or at least get a replacement.

This is most likely the case. I've had a few encounters where I get faulty digitizer on new screen.

I feared as much. I've reached out to the seller to seek a replacement, if it works I'll return here to let you know in case anyone else encounters this problem or in case you're curious whether your theory is correct. Thank you.

Please do. I have fixed 1000's of iPhones and if there are any type of issues within the first 24hrs, it's usually a bad screen. There are a lot of reputable dealers, but I have purchased from iFixit, Revamp Wholesale, Mobile Sentrix and Injured Gadgets. All of them have excellent screens. I rarely get any bad screens from them and when I say rarely, I mean 1 in maybe 100.

Same problem here on my iPad Air. It doesn't matter what I do, reset, restore. Touchscreen goes crazy. The digitizer was recently replaced, so I am taking my iPad Air back to the repair shop.

This will be repair visit number 6. I agree when the repairability of an iPad Air is 2/10. If I had known that they would be this hard to repair, I would have just bought a new iPad right away instead of wasting my money on trying to repair it. (Original problem was a non-working home button)

They broke the digitizer and replaced it. I was charged $100 for the repair. The home button fell out the next day, so I took it back and they fixed it again, and after I brought it home, I found the screen was blank. Took it back and the shop wouldn't take responsibility for the screen damage, since I didn't test it in front of them. (Word to the wise, let this be a lesson to you, don't trust a repair shop.) I paid for a new screen, and then when I got it back, the home button fell out again. Took it back, they reattached the home button, and then when I brought it home, I found out the cover lock sensor, no longer operated. Took it back again, and they said they couldn't fix it, and now the home button worked but was very deep inside the hole for it. A week later, the digitizer went nuts, and now I am taking it back again.

My take on fixing an iPad? If you want to replace just the battery, use Apple's service. If anything else goes wrong with it and it's not covered by Apple's warranty, then use it as a coaster and buy a new tablet. I have spent the last 8 weeks trying to get my iPad fixed, and it's still broken.

Press and hold the home and lock button until the apple logo appears, then release both.

Hi, thanks for your response but I'm not sure how hard-rebooting is supposed to help? I tried it anyway but didn't fix the problem unfortunately.

Sometimes the phone just goes a little crazy and needs a reboot.

ive tried this a million times and its still not working

@taylen is this after replacing a screen, or it just started happening?

this looks like the replacement display is faulty, replace your screen with a genuine OEM part and you should not get this problem
