Connect your iPod to your PC computer with the iPod's USB cable and open iTunes. You will be prompted by iTunes to sync the devices. Select the option that that you do not wish to sync the devices. Your iPod can now be used as and external hard drive on your PC. Exit iTunes.

Find the iTunes directory on your PC by selecting the folder, "My Music." Open this folder and then select the folder, "iTunes." Open the iTunes folder and find the XML file and the ITL file. Delete both of these files. These files are the library database files that you just installed when you attached the iPod to your PC.

Select the "My Computer" option on your PC and when the folder opens, select the iPod device. Make sure that your folder options are set to show hidden files by selecting "Show Hidden Files" under the Options menu bar on the top of the window. Find the folder called "iPod Control." Copy the entire folder with all of its contents to your PC desktop. If you have a lot of songs on your iPod, this can take a long time.

Open iTunes. Select File from the menu bar on the top of the screen and then select the option, "Add a Folder." Now, select the folder you just copied to your desktop. Your iTunes library will now contain the contents from your iPod. After verifying the contents are in your iTunes library, delete the folder from your PC's desktop.

Remove the iPod from your PC and attach the iPod touch. ITunes will ask you to register and then sync the new iPod device. Allow the devices to auto-sync so that the contents of your library are transferred to your iPod Touch.

We know that iTunes can help users sync media files like songs, movies or photos from computer to the iDevice within few clicks. So if you can export the music from your old iPod touch/nano/shuffle to the computer in high quality, then you can easily load these songs to the new iPod device with iTunes easily. Obviously, you can't reach it without any help, so here you need to turn to iPod Transfer or iPod Transfer for Mac. With it, you can export the whole music folder (including the files purchased from iTunes store or downloaded from other sources) from iPod to PC without losing.
