Top of phone overheating after replacement

Hi guys, so I just replaced my screen with a new one and everything is working perfectly (camera, light sensor, speaker) however it gets very hot right where the front speaker is at the top... How can I fix it? I double checked and everything is positioned in the right place.

Thanks !!

Well heat comes from something short circuiting, and right above the speaker is the battery. When you replaced the screen did you open the battery input cover? If you did there where rubber things on top of some of the inputs also on that board. If those where removed it could cause heat. Keep us posted.

Hey, I didn't touch the battery at all during the replacement... Just swapped over the components at the top with the camera, earpiece and ligh sensor.. So the heat is not coming from the bottom speaker I actually meant earpiece, and surrounding area. The rest of the phone stays cool to touch.

Did you get a response on this?

I have the exact same problem. Did you manage to solve it??

Might be a damaged front camera ribbon cable assembly.

Replacing it is worth a try, but it's weird if everything on the front camera assembly works fine like, ambient light sensor that adjusts auto brightness, proximity sensor which allows the phone screen to turn off when the phone is placed near your ear on calls, front camera, earpiece speaker used for calls without speaker mode activated.

The only things that are located there are the Facetime camera, some sensors and the earpiece speaker. The only one of them that could possibly draw enough power to heat up would be the speaker. That's also the easiest thing to not line up right.

I have never personally seen it happen but it would make sense if the speaker wasn lined up with some type of short or possibly the flex cable connection got damaged when it wasn't lined up right and somehow shorted.

I would:

1. Make sure the speaker is seated corrected and the flex is lined up

2. Make sure there is no tear in the flex

3. Replace the flex

That flex is probably the easiest thing to replace on an iPhone, so it shouldn't be a big job.
