Home button stops working when screen is seated into the frame clips

My friend bought a phone just like the one you described(only kind of opposite issue I think). Perfect phone just the home button wasn't working couldn't get the phone to the unlock (passcode, open apps or back) screens. So I took it apart for him took the home button out. Made sure it clicked when only the home button itself put the plate on the back made sure it clicked. Sat down and was like hum put it back in till screws where tight but not to tight like I've always done same thing wouldn't work. Stopped over thinking it (prior military so thought dumb for a sec) I loosed the screws that looked OEM to me, and tested it when it was not in the phone worked perfectly (while before it wouldn't work at all when I first took it apart). So I was like ok gonna go ahead and put it back in. It worked perfectly after so my guess for the one I had the screws where to short (they tightened the back plate on to tight when fully screwed in). it might be opposite for you try tightening the screws more if can't then get a set of shorter screws.

I really hope this helps someone out possibly someday.

Also I told my friend that the home button inside the phone is not an actual iPhone OEM home button because it didn't have the apple symbol. So if the phone had been taken apart before by someone they may have done a screen replacement that had parts already on it (home button and camera). I had an IPod that the screen cracked and the replacement one came with a home button that didn't work at all (the replacement home buttons don't work sometimes, or they just do not fit properly inside of the frame, so that they cannot work).
