Home button stops working when screen is seated into the frame clips
A customer came in with a mint condition Iphone 6, completely flawless both the outside and inside. No drops and no sign of water or moisture is visible anywhere, I checked especially around home connectors. The problem is that the home button no longer worked for her, everything else was fine though. The button is fine as long as the screen is completely detached from the clips that go inside the metal frame. However, attaching even one clip on either side disables home instantly so you can't even wake the phone with it nor any other normal usage. It clicks just fine both outside and inside the frame and I just noticed that touch id works in any situation. It doesn't appear to be jammed as siri doesn't show up nor is it randomly clicking itself.
All screws are in the correct place and they are all original as far as I can tell. I tried removing the screen connectors protective plate before attaching but nothing changed.
I have yet to change the home button as we are out of those and I'm always hesitant to bork the touchID. If nothing else works we'll try it but it takes some time to get the parts here.
I'm quite clueless, anyone have any advice?

Try another screen?

I could give it a try, although I'd still use the same parts like the aluminum plate etc which might be part of the problem. I suspect a grounding issue but I don't have any real evidence or why it would occur. We'll see how it goes.
