Cable led amber but battery not charging

Hi dear Experts,

the battery of my MPB late 2013 13" Retina A1502 EMC 2678 is not charging. No water spills (really!!!), stopped working from its own. Macos sais "Battery not being charged" and “battery is ok” (in the beginning), now sais “battery need to be replaced", cable light is amber and kernel task consumes a lot of CPU if battery is plugged-in. Resetting SMC worked once, but problem came back and reset never worked again. Sent MPB to Genius Bar and they diagnosed the need for Logic Board replacement (battery module was fine according to them). I refused the $$$ repair and as I have electronics background took my multimeter, a borrowed oscilloscope and decided to take a shot trying to repair myself. Bought the logic board pdf and BV. Shunt resistors R7120 and R7150 looks fine (near 0,02 and 0,005 ohms), other resistors and capacitors in this line also looks fine. Since I see steady 12,3V on PPVBAT_G3H_CONN I’m starting to believe that Apple made a mistaken diagnostic and the logic board is ok. As I can’t find the battery module schematic and BV I’m kinda blind to move on with this diagnostic. While doing a visual check I saw signs of faulty components on the little board of the battery module (don’t know the name and PN). Does anyone could give me tips/directions on where to find the schematics and BV of this module? Or hints on how this board works? Need to know which components are faulty in order to try to find them for replacement.

How much was Apple asking for this repair? BTW the method iFixit gives for battery removal on this is BS. I can have one out in twelve minutes with no damage, And I've told then how to do it! But it entails some flammable hazards and they might feel it is risky for the amateur.

Hi Mayer, I live in Brazil, they asked about R$1900 (~US$600) for the logic board replacement, not the battery module. And I don't intent to replace the entire battery module since the batteries are pretty fine, only the electronic circuitry is faulty.

I use methanol in a syringe to loosen the glue.

It's to late for this on Fernandos but not on yours. Call Apple and ask for a "Flate rate repair and It should cost $350 to fix any and all components. It cannot have water damage or impact damage.

Hi Meyer, I escalated the situation to apple care but they denied any discount. I argued with them for 2 hours over the phone, they were polite but inflexible. No chance :-/

They denied you a flat rate repair? I have never heard of that! What country are you in?

Ok, maybe I misunderstood what flat rate means, I though you meant discount. I'm in Brazil.
