Can I use parts from diffrent PS3 Slim CECH models?

I baught a PS3 Slim as is, all I saw that it needed was a hard drive, I had a spare one, poped it in and it worked. DVD's work but games don't, I see that it tries to read it, but it doesnt show up on the XMB. I came to the conclusion that the blu-ray lense was eather dirty or dead. I opened up the PS3 and got to the laser and cleaned it and still nothing, so I assume it is dead. Now my confusion lies in the model IDs. The PS3 is a CECH-2001A, the laser needed is a KEM-450AAA as it is the model number the laser has. Can I use a KEM-450AAA from a PS3 model CECH-2101B?
