mainboard internal display connector / connecteur écran interne

Hi,

(en français plus bas)

Someone (not me) pulled on a iMac Core i5 2.8 27-Inch (Mid-2010) A1312 (EMC 2390) mainboard internal display connector like a bull and broke several soldered connections, about half left part. Among those, the second one from left looks different (first one looks like ground). I found someone to solder it back, but I'm not sure every contacts of the connector was soldered on the mainboard, expecially the second one (photo below).

Do you know if that connector is entirelly soldered ?

Thanks

Salut,

Merci d'avance.

Yves

That connector is not even soldered on there are many breaks not fixed past the ones on the left. Looks like all 12 on the left are still not connected. You will need a new Plastic Connector to replace this damaged one. But once you get the new part any competent Electronic Technician with a good soldering station can de-solder this old connector off and replace the connector with a new one.

Hi,

Maybe my english is too bad, but that's not the answer I'm looking for !

I know half the connections are broken. I already found a "competent Electronic Technician", but he wants to know if connections 1 & 2 on the left have to be resoldered. Because those are the only ones missing the "link" between the plastic connector and the pcb. My question was to know if all connections are required.

Looking at the other side of your damaged connector I would say "Yes" but the connector has missing leads which might be lying on the inside of your unit. If you can find the missing leads then examining them would determine that. But a new replacement connector would really tell you that. Looking at the damage of the solder on the board it looks like whoever manhandled that really tore the leads right out of the solder. "What Gorilla did this?" is all I can say.
