Charging but % doesn't go up, UNLESS bump my phone. (Still-Not-Solved)

This is a repost, since I've come down to a much more narrow diagnosis, I've made a new one.

Old: iPhone NOT increasing charge percentage unless 'Condition'

Anyhow, my iPhone says it's charging, but the % doesn't go up.

When I bump my phone (hit the bottom of it with the ball of my palm) it starts to charge again.

I check if it's charging properly by an input amperage meter, so I can always tell if it's a false positive, or truly charging when I plug it in.

Thus, the issue is physical / hardware. (NOT IC charging chip)

Does anyone have an idea what exactly might be my problem?

How I can fix it?

Has anyone had this before?

I built the iPhone myself and it worked for a year no problem.

Have you tried another front display LCD screen with frame? Another user with a issue like this reported this to have fixed the issue. It's weird. It's like the front screen display shares some grounding with the charging circuit in a way.

Now that you mention it.. would you think it might be the steel plate behind the LCD that's touching something? There's nothing else it could come in contact with, other than the speaker.

But no, I have no other LCD to try out. :<

By the way, my frame's a little broken.. and the screen's peeling from the bezel itself.. though I highly doubt that has anything to do with this.

I might just give it a try though..

da

How bent is the frame? Is it bad enough to make the screen not sit flush with the phone? A bad quality screen usually results in the glass pushing up from the screen frame.

TL-DR: Try another battery first.

If it still doesn't work then you may want to try another screen, but I'd take it to a phone shop to try it first as it will save you money if it isn't the case.

Edit: I may be making many edits so do refresh regularly after like a minute or two after I post my comment.

I gave my charger a bit of a wiggle when it was plugged in, instead of hitting it.. it seemed to have reconnected for once. When it happens, I'll do it again and see what happens. If it does it again, then it's 100% without a doubt the charging dock and I'm just going to replace it. ;d

Very interesting, Ben. I hadn't heard of the display acting as a ground. Thank you for sharing that. Now, what I'm getting out of this, your phones not properly charging. Even though you checked continuity, go ahead and borrow a friends charger. Just to rule it out. Apple quality, preferably. If that passes, I would recommend a new, quality, lightning dock. Kudos on building your own phone

Guessing right now, but it may be the battery. Not really sure though.

I'll admit, I won't deny that it's plausable.. I mean, that's the only thing that isn't actually screwed down into the phone. Perhaps my terminal's dirty still and I need to clean it even more..

The same problem happened to me on my iPhone 5. I plug it in, and the percent goes down. The problem was the charging dock. I used another one, and my phone was charging back up.

EasyIFI, when you said you plugged the charger into your iPhone, did it say it is charging on screen, but the battery % did NOT increase?

Or was there no charging indication AT ALL?

This is a common issue. If the battery percentage isn't going up then you may want to look into the FL11 filter which is right next to the battery connector. I've seen many phones show this. The FL11 filter is the data line that controls the battery percentage indicator. It commonly blows.

If it's blown, then that means that it would cease to function at all, correct?

It may be best if you read my post again.
