Can I add an SSD to a Dell Inspiron 14 3452 eMMC?
Can I add an SSD as extra internal storage for the 3452 eMMC model? I don't see a SATA connector.

Yes and No? If it is a Dell Inspiron i3542 then you can because the connector is soldered to the motherboard but if it is an ordinary Dell Inspiron 3542 then you cannot because there is no connector on the motherboard but also remember you still need that dang ribbon connector and bracket to hold the SATA drive so that is gonna cost you some money. Or, if you want to hack the laptop and that junk is very easy to do all you need is a USB Hub that has about 4 ports and is thin. And, yes we are going to wire the hub IN to the motherboard and then wire one of the ports to the USB port we disconnected from the motherboard and that leaves a few USB ports so you can install a Flash Drive or even a USB SATA adapter and install a huge SATA drive. So, use an Exacto Knife or Cross Cut Pliers and cut the pins from the motherboard but leave some pin because that is where you have to solder on to. Use the USB port on the right or any USB Port? The closer the less wire you need. Cut the USB Hub main wire and strip and tin the ends and solder on leads making sure you are comfortable with the PinOut and if you are not sure just use the USB plug and cable you cut off the Hub to figure out what wires go where__hot, ground, and data cables. Solder the leads to the motherboard so the USB Hub is hot__almost done but you have a dead USB port on the laptop. Get a long USB cable and strip off the outer casing and measure it out so reaches to the dead USB port. Cut off the end that is not needed and strip and tin the ends and solder to the USB Port. Voila___USB port works again. And, with the USB Hub Hot Glued to the MB you can install anything you want___all you need is USB adapters or USB devices. You might even be able to boot off the USB drive and not the puny 32GB Emmc drive? Boot XP off the USB Drive? Ha Ha Ha!

Wow. And there I was thinking I could just solder the the sata adapter from a 3552's main board unto the board I have for the 3452. I used a multi-meter to check already and it's wired right (The empty section where it would be on the 3452). I don't know if it'll work, it's just a heat gun, some flux and a couple hours. It's dirt cheap so I guess it's worth the try. Will post the results.

go here and read all the way thru... u will have to replace the system board to accomodate the SSD as the OEM board only supports the 32gb eMMC ( this laptop must have been designed on a monday or friday - LOL !!!
do yourself a favour and install Linux Mint w/ the Cinnamon desktop (x64) and enjoy way less hassles than 'Windoze' not to mention much greater security !! also consider dropping in 8gb RAM because it will work even though Dell says 4gb max ... Godspeed & hope this helps ! ~ lou @ geex4u dot com

The Celeron 3050 support up to 8GB. I don't have a spare DIMM to try, but I'm sure it'd work.

This laptops hard drive is embedded (SSD Soldered On The Motherboard), it does not include any connection on the motherboard to add another hard drive. The only way to do this, is replace the DVD Optical Drive with a Hard Drive Caddy and use the DVD Optical Drive connection for your SSD. (Like the one from the link below)

This model doesn't have an optical drive.
In that case... he could use the internal SSD as a boot drive, then use an external drive as a storage drive.
Hi, The most affordable, largest capacity SD Card could be inserted and left in the card reader as the storage drive. This would save carrying around an external USB drive and it is unobtrusive. Also handy for personal data protection as it could be removed when you leave the laptop unattended.
Downside is if you want to use the card reader for something else occasionally
Could use a USB stick with an extension and velcro it to the side...
