My iPod is locked and disabled for 24,309,070 minutes.

So, I've watched plenty of videos and read plenty of articles. I need to go into DFU mode or something. Ok, I know how to do this and I've done it successfully. BUT to complete the recovery process, I need to connect it to iTunes. I have downloaded iTunes, But AFTER it got locked. It says on my iTunes "unable to connect ipod, it is locked with a passcode, please enter passcode and try again". (or something along the lines of that). Anyway I cannot unlock it, so how can I connect it to iTunes!!! It's so frustrating. Any help at all is appreciated. :)

So you know how to do this yet you can't choose the restore option on iTunes?

If you do manage to start downloading the iOS firmware for your iPod, you will have to boot your phone into recovery or DFU mode again. As most of the time the iPod will just restart itself to normal mode after a certain amount of time. Unless you can somehow get a fast enough download from the apple servers so that you can finish the download quicker than the set timer that causes the iPod to restart by itself during recovery mode.

You can do this by first making sure the iPod is not plugged into the computer then by turning off the iPod and then holding the home button when plugging the iPod to the computer via USB cable.

If you do have iTunes open, it will prompt you that this device is in recovery mode and has to either be restored or updated. You will need to click on restore to do this.

If either your power button or home button does not work, it will make it very difficult to boot to DFU and/or recovery mode.

I can get it into DFU mode, but iTunes will not connect to the ipod because it has a passcode. I need to connect the ipod before I can do anything, but to do this I need to bypass the passcode. I am going to go to the apple store soon to see if they can fix the problem.

The reason I need to connect it to iTunes is the computer my iTunes was on originally and the computer/iTunes my ipod was connected to, died. So now I have a new one. But I have never had the need to use iTunes so I never downloaded it, until now when the ipod is looked for a million hours. So I cant connect the ipod to iTunes, unless I can bypass the code or something.

Take it to a Apple shop or mobile phone repair shop. They can do it for you.

Your iPod is not in dfu mode if the iPod has display of the lock screen or apple logo.

Anyway it's best you bring it to someone to fix.
