My DSi XL will not charge

Hi there,

My DSi XL works good except when I connect the charger the charge light only blinks once then shuts off.

I changed the F1 fuse near the power connector with no success. Is there another fuse F2 or something?

Regars,

MC

Yes, F2 is on the underside of the battery PCB; you'll have to remove the screws and take the board out to see it. It fails quite often, producing the result you see.

You can either replace it or just solder a wire across it to bridge it.

Hi, um I do not understand a single word you said and I'm having the same problem. Can you simplify the answer for me please?

The dsi xl has 2 fuses. 1 is marked f1 and found just under the charging port on the main motherboard.

A second fuse (also marked f1) is found on the underside of the power supply board (the smaller one on the left if you have your ds open in front of you.)

If either of these fuses is faulty, your ds will not start. They can be tested with a multimeter, and if necessary replaced with some careful handling and a soldering iron. The power supply board is screwed to the casing, so you will have to unscrew those to check the second fuse (also marked f1, presumably a mistake Nintendo made, as the second fuse is marked f2 in other models)

If you are unsure on how to reach the second fuse, you can check the guide on this website for replacing the power supply board. Good luck!

I don't think this is related to a fuse. It sounds more like your connection is loose or dirty. I'd suggest cleaning the charge port on the DSI with a small brush + isopropyl alcohol. If it's still doing the same thing, you probably have a bad solder connection on the charge port. A bad charger is also a possibility.

I had the same problem. Checked both fuses - they were ok. Cleaned the battery poles with an eraser, ok after that...

Where do you have to push the wire back so i cant go on it anymore! Are you talking about having to push it far into the charging port?

While a quick google will not tell you exactly what type of fuse nintendo is using, it does give a number of results to buy one

an example:

Not sure if it's your best bet, but amazon or ebay in general are usually a good place to look. Another option is buying a broken ds to scavenge for parts, due to their age you can sometimes even get them for free...

Good luck on your repair!
