Rotation of device is sporadic and not uniform
When my WP900 has been powered on, the buffing wheel spins but at varying speeds, tends to overheat and then shut down.

Here is a link to the Ifixit troubleshooting page for the WP900. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see information about the Control Module and the motor. Unfortunately the instructional repair process referred to in the link is a work in progress and there is no information there to guide you.
Hopefully though the information may point you in the right direction.

Your device probably has an issue with the control module. Please refer to the disassembly guide which will walk you through taking your WP900 apart and how to replace the control module safely and effictively.
