Domanda Chiusa

A1151 MacBook wont boot

I have an old A1151 macbook that will not boot, the battery is missing but i have the 85W magsafe adapter, when connected the Led on the charging cable turns green, however, no matter how many times i push on the power button, it will not boot, no chime, no ANYTHING, is the logic board fried? i have tried removing the adapter, holding down the power button and then connecting the adapter, then releasing. nothing.

is it worth buying a battery to test it? or should i just give up on it, if the logic board is gone, i think it would be too much hassle. i dont even get hard drives spinning or anything at all.

thanks :)

Usually the bigger machines like the 15" and 17" machine do require a bump from the battery to get started. As they age they also seem to need more of a start up boost. You just can't tell if the machine is good until you can attempt a startup. On the 17" machines I use an 85 watt adapter. That's what they generally shipped with.

Try this.

Discussion on the Mac Forums. If it works then you should get a new battery. If not I would not waste the effort.
