Screen distortion when touched above home button

I replaced my dock connector with one from iFixit, and now when I touch the screen above the general vicinity of the home button, the screen acts like a non-touch LCD (does the water drop radial effect).

I'm not excited to perform another tear down (bad vision) and it was a an interesting effort to try and make things fix, like the microphone rubber slightly cockeyed, and what seems like the speaker assembly doesn't fit as cleanly as before the dock replacement.

I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with this or tips?
