Why won't my screen come on?

Since you are receiving notifications, that obviously indicates the phone is at turning on. More than likely I'd say you have a bad lcd. People often don't notice the moment a broken LCD happens if the glass over top of it doesn't also break. Look very closely at the screen for any hairline cracks under the glass. Sometimes holding them up to a light at an angle makes them easier to see
