iMac Won't Turn On!

27" i5 iMac Won't Turn On !!!

Hello,

I am a photographer and a documentary film maker. I use Apple for my projects. Now I have a major problem with my Apple imac 27 i5.

I was unloading a file last night to the internet using my Apple when apparently the imac went to sleep and after that we lost power for about 30 minutes. The next day when I woke up, my computer was not turning-on. When I try to push the power button, I hear the disk and the hard drive, but the screen remains black.

I tried the Apple recommendation like:

Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC), or

Resetting PRAM and NVRAM, or

Remove and reinstall the SO-DIMM memory modules

but I still face the same problem. Are you able to help me to resolve this problem? Another problem I have is that, I am living and working in a country called Tajikistan and I am not able to take it to any Apple store since we do not have one here! And to mail it in beside the huge expense, it takes almost 3 months before I get my computer back. I work with this system daily and I can not go without my pc for that long. Also I have all of my projects and profiles saved on the desk-top which I need. Please help me to solve this problem.

Best regards,

Artin

Try starting up from your system installation by inserting the disk and holding down the "C" key. If it starts up, go the second screen pull down menu to Utilities, Disk Utility and see if you cam repair the hard drive. Did you take any diagnostic tools such as TechTool Pro? Do you have a backup external firewire drive? Do you have a MacBook. I looked Tajikistan up and searched FedEx delivery and they don't provide service. Please tell me you didn't haul that huge iMac into one of the most remote parts of the world completely unprepared with your livelihood dependent on it.

I understand your plight since I once was foolish and did no backups. Of course, I paid the consequences.

For the past few years I've easily made a perfect clone of my iMac's internal hard drive on an external hard drive with a simple-to-use application called, "SuperDuper."

SD can make a perfect clone of your internal hard drive, and it is even possible to boot from your external HD if your internal HD goes bad. I don't work for the company, but I really recommend the app for use in the future after you resolve your current challenges.
