Beeping sound after exchanging ram
I have bought the following ram:
Kingston ValueRAM - DDR3 - 4 GB - SO DIMM 204-Pin
1600 MHz ( PC3-12800 )
But after I boot up the mac I hear a beeping sound every third second or so. I have read that this could be because:
1) The RAM is not supported
2) The RAM is defect
3) The RAM is not properly attached.
I think 2 and 3 is wrong, but I am in doubt about 1. I see that the recommended specs (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201165...) for this mac is:
- Double Data Rate Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (DDR3) format
-30mm (1.18 inch)
- 2 GB or 4 GB
- 204-pin
- PC3-8500 DDR3 1066 MHz type RAM
I have a faster type of ram (1600mhz) and another PC3 version.
Do you think that the RAM I bought is compatible with my mac?
UPDATE:
If I mix the ram; the old 2GB ram and the new 4gb 1600mhz ram it boots perfectly but in About My Mac it says: "6gb 1067mhz". I have tried switching out ram slot with the 2gb with the 4gb and it still says the same. I have also tried with the other new 4gb ram, to see if one of them could be broken, but it still works fine. The beeping only happens if both new 4gb ram is in the machine.
