Keyboard/Trackpad work Intermittently - I think its the connector?

I have a few issues to deal with but this is the big one.

Keyboard and Trackpad no longer work!

It works with usb keyboard and mouse.

It was working intermittently for a while and could be fixed by temporarily applying pressure to the keyboard ribbon cable (or was it the orange one beside it? is that also the keybaord?) but as of last night it does not work at all without external input devices.

please help!!! i don't think i need to replace the keyboard..do i?

More likely the cable

it gets crimped between the case and the battery. Check the connector ends (flip up bar) they sometimes work lose. Some have had success wrapping the cable with paper (doesn't take much to insulate it).

this is useful - the paper I mean (perhaps isolating the cable from the chassis? but it is still intermittent. If I apply pressure a certain way it fixes the problem, but it could go at any time. Is there any way to replace the keyboard cable without replacing the keyboard itself. ALSO - what is the orange cable beside the grey keyboard cable (power to the keyboard?) it may be that cable and not the grey that is the problem.

One is for trackpad, other is for button. Since pressure would flex, and extend the cable. Check that the ends have not pulled out of the crimp connectors (they flick up, and pressure lock the bare end of the cable in place).

hey - it turns out its definitely the orange cable that connects the board under the track pad to the logic board. by the looks of things this provides power to the keyboard and trackpad as well as sends the keyboard, track pad, and button input info to the logic board. where can i get a replacement cable? anyone??? its not the connection, its definitely the cable.
