Why does the touch screen/digitizer freeze on the iPhone 6?

I have had a few customers that have had their screen replaced on an iPhone 6. They have issues with the digitizer freezing up on them. The problem is fixed with a hard reset but the customer is annoyed and rightfully so. I do not believe the digitizer is the problem because other customer's have come in with the same issue and they have not had a screen replacement.

Even stranger is that when the screen freezes up, the assistive touch still works and you can drag the icon around the screen even though the the digitizer does not detect your touch.

Has anyone else had any of these issues? It has not been a problem all year until the last two weeks. I think it is software related and the phones that had a screen replaced were on iOS 9 or newer. I don't like replacing screens under warranty when I'm not sure if it will solve the customer's problem. Let me know if you have any insight!

Could be software. Apples not super happy with us fixing their phones. With that being said. Where are you getting your display assemblies from?

I get my screens from a local wholesale distributor. I am guessing they get the screens from China. I know they do screen refurbs with OEM lcd's but I don't know where they get the screens. It says premium screens on their website, whatever that means.

Nobody has OEM, except apple. They are the only ones that have OEM. If you didn't get it from Foxconn. It's not OEM.

Alright, it is possible it's a software issue. I wouldn't be surprised. However, if it were a software issue. I'd really think it would just brick the phone; with error 53. Swap out their "bad" screen, with one of your new ones. Keep the "bad" screen. It may be useful later

Thank you iMedic. I meant that our distributor refurbs OEM broken screens using a machine to do a lens swap. Its concerning that this is a recurring problem on some phones using iOS 9 and I wish I had an answer for them. Thanks for the insight!
