washing machine gets stuck on rinse
Top load maytag washing machine goes thru the 1st wash cycle and drains ok. Gets to the rinse cycle and fills up and starts to agitate only.
I did replace the lid switch and still the same problem. The timer actually advances past the "spin" all the way to the end never draining the 2nd fill. I have to manually put the timer dial back to spin to drain it.

If the lid switch is bad the washer will wash then drain but not go into spin cycle. If it does go into spin cycle but has a problem later in the wash cycle it is not the lid switch. If your lid switch goes bad you can disconnect the two wires to the switch and splice them together (insulate securely with tape or wire nuts) Leave the ground connected to washer frame. Then your washer will go through the spin cycle regardless if the lid is up or down. The lid switch is a safety feature that disengages when the lid is up so when the machine is spinning you don't get hurt from sticking your finger in there or getting your hair grabbed etc. If the switch fails it will be the same as if the lid is up as it is just a relay that makes circuit when there is lid pressure on it. I had one in the past where the lid was not making full contact with the switch. Switch was good but without lid contact not circuiting the relay.
