Touch ID not working after drop

I dropped my iPhone 6 and now the touch ID doesn't work but the home button does. I can't even get into the passcode settings. It tells me immediately that it fails.

Take apart the device and make sure the cable hasn't come loose. Unplug and plug it back in and see if it begins woking again. Keep in mind that you CAN NOT replace a home button that has touch-id on it or else you will get error 53 the next time you try to update the device. If you are unaware of what error 53 is, it basically turns your device into a brick and there will be no way to use it or get any of your data again.

Be very cautious when handling anything involving the touch-id because if it is damaged at all it will give you this error! If reseeding it does not work I recommend taking it to Apple. Do not let them know you took apart the device.

Good Luck!!

Take the screen off and make sure the flex cable that connects the home button to your logic board is fully connected, after the drop it most likely came a bit loose. I believe it is the one with metal on top, I am not 100% sure. I suggest un-clipping all of them very carefully and then re-clipping all of them carefully making sure each one is fully in.

look you if your touch ID is not working then you have to get it replaced from your nearest Apple store so in order to try to fix it you do you have to make sure that if it gets further damage you will get it fixed me a really sound crazy but if you drop your iPhone in the same way as earlier it will start to work .this is based on my personal experience I once dropped my iPhone in the and then It didn't work but the next time I drop it accidentally the touch ID started working in a perfect condition. make sure you have something to save your screen because I have the fiber screengaurd which protects screen from breaking even when dropped from a height

My iPhone 6s did the SAME! Take it apart and look to make sure every cable is pressed down, to be sure just unplug them and press them back in. Make sure every cover for plugs are screwed tight. Put phone back together then check, you can look on YouTube for help taking apart. Do NOT mix your screws up. And do NOT replace the home button! Mine works after tightening the cables. Good Luck!

@catdamn, You're saying you've replaced the screen with the front camera assembly included, right? The part that worries me is your statement about a "new home"; are you saying that you replaced the home button? And now you can't set up Touch ID?

If you've replace the home button, your Touch ID will never work again. Each home button assembly must be paired to the logic board with an encryption algorithm that only Apple has access to. That means it is only possible for Apple to replace a home button; no one else can.

Unfortunately, home button replacement is not a service Apple offers. The best you can do is to have them replace the screen, which will then come with the front camera and home button. They will then pair the home button and it will work again. The downside is that you have to pay Apple their full price for a screen replacement in order to get your Touch ID back.

Oh I didn't know that, but as you guys said beyond, maybe its only connecting tape get broken and home is ok, I will go back to the original home button then. Thanks!
