Why does my phone no longer connect to micro SD cards?
A week ago, my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone (running Android OS 5.0) used to connect with my Samsung 32 gb Pro micro SD card. It stopped working the next day after I used an app (WavePad) to show a person how to edit the amplitude of a song. In fact, I always edited music through the app before and had no problems or errors whatsoever.
The strange thing is that the next day when I turned on my phone an error message appeared that said "Blank SD Card: SD card is blank or has unsupported filesystem", and my 8 gb of my songs, photos, and videos disappeared. After clicking on the notification it told me to format it, but I turned off the phone, took the battery out, then removed the SD card to insert it into my PC in order to backup the files. When I inserted it into my PC, it read the card, and I was successfully able to backup the files. I formatted and checked for bad sectors and the computer said there was no problems, the card worked like brand new.
Therefore, I inserted the SD card back into my phone, and this time the phone could not find the card at all and no more messages appeared as if nothing was even inserted. Additionally, I also bought Samsung's latest 64 gb PRO Plus micro SD card and my phone could not find it either (did not appear on storage settings and the file manager). However, my dad's Samsung Galaxy S5 phone read both of the cards and played videos, music, and opened photos. To find and fix the problem with my phone, I used safe mode to find if apps were the problem, and in safe mode the phone still could not find the SD card. I updated it to Andriod 5.1.1 (the latest for AT&T), formatted the phone to factory defaults, and none of these fixed the problem; the SD cards did not appear on the storage settings. Moreover, I checked the gold connectors and everything was aligned and good. I removed the SIM card and tried to see if it is the cause of the problem, but the SIM card did not interfere.
Ultimately, the problem is in the phone, but I could not fix it at all. Everything else worked fine besides the SD card connection.
