Part of screen sometimes doesnt work after water damage

I dropped my iphone 6 in a few inches of water the other night but pulled it out after only a few seconds. I immediately turned it off, pulled the two bottom screws out and left it on my spare bathroom counter with the heater on for 24 hours. I turned it on and everything seemed to be working fine. After a few minutes, when texting the left side of the screen around the letter a and the caps button will not work, will put the wrong letter, will put itself on caps lock, etc. If I lock the screen for a couple of seconds and unlock it, everything works fine. Would changing the screen most likely fix my problem or is the problem deeper?

Hello,

Does the board itself look fine? Just as a precaution I recommend scrubbing it clean with 99% isoporphyl alcohol (or the highest you can find). Screens commonly go out when iPhones get wet so it is likely that replacing it would solve your problem, Especially if it tends to be in 1 specific area. A majority of water-damage repairs I do on iPhones need a new screen as well as a battery to get up and running again.

Good Luck!!

All the boards look fine. I said I took the screws out the bottom but I forgot to include I completely disconnected the front screen assembly from the back and left it open while drying. I'll scrub the boards to be safe and replace the screen. Thanks for the help

hey matt i have a water damaged iphone 6, did the alcohol repair cleaned motherboard replaced lcd and everything seemed to work fine but after the phone finally boots on there is no touch what so ever but the picture is perfectly fine, tried multiple updates and restores but still no response from the touch at all..... can you shed any light on my situation

This problem is caused by a failed Touch-IC chip on the motherboard. It will require board-level repair and unfortunately isn't a very easy DIY repair. You will need a microscope with a soldering iron and hot air station to replace the touch-ic chip.
